Our History

Bal Dixit founded Newtex in 1978 after inventing Zetex®, the industry’s first safe and commercially viable alternative to asbestos. Newtex and Dixit have received numerous awards and recognition since the company’s founding. Dixit now serves on several boards including the Rochester Institute of Technology and the US Department of Commerce’s Upstate New York Export Council. He was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2003.

Our Products

We deliver innovation, performance, and protection through three business platforms: Performance Materials (NPM), Engineered Systems (NES), and Extreme Protective (NXP). Our Performance Materials business includes the Zetex®, ZetexPlus®, Z-Flex®, and Z-Shield™ brands in addition to other heat and fire resistant fabrics, tapes, ropes, yarns, and tubings. We utilize those performance materials to fabricate custom high temperature solutions and personal protective equipment and apparel for our Engineered Systems and Extreme Protective business units.
